Rise and Shine!!

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

Guys!!! Guess what?!?!?!

I’m running a 5k today!

Yep. It’s the Heart & Soul race that supports Children’s Miracle Network. I’ve always wanted to run this race because it starts at my old elementary school, runs literally right in front of my house, and I’m sure I’ll see a bunch of people I know.

So cool right!!

Yesterday we spent all day packaging all the new Crate & Barrel 2 orders. It was a l-o-n-g day.

snack(s)

I was a bottomless pit yesterday morning. I didn’t think I needed breakfast so I skipped, as usual, but lunch could not have come soon enough.

I had 6 of these garlic Triscuits. A caffeine free diet coke. And a few more little bliss squares.

Diet coke is one of the things that really upsets my digestive system. But what I’m learning is that it’s combinations. Most people who suffer from IBS have a really hard time with fake sugars, caffeine, alcohol, and carbonation.

I really love my coffee… I’ve already given it up once and was miserable. I also really like diet coke. I like how it tastes, if I like regular coke better I’d drink that.

Well diet coke is a triple threat. It has caffeine, fake sugar and carbonation. So it’s not surprising that it makes my digestive system freak out. But if I drink caffeine free and change the combination of moot ingredients my stomach does better.

That’s how I get away with drinking coffee too. I used to always put splenda in my coffee drinks. Now I go with regular sugar and I never have more than 1 mug of coffee a day. Now I can enjoy coffee and diet coke without having intense problems after.

BBQ Friday!

Today I had the Tri-Tip sandwich with loads of bbq sauce and potato salad. The bbq was dripping all over the place. I had to keep putting down my sandwich to lick my fingers… which I’ve determined is a sign of complete admiration when in a bbq restaurant.

What also happens on Fridays after we have BBQ… cookies!!!

This double chocolate chip monster is HUGE.

Normally I don’t eat dairy (at all) but I cant turn down a cookie once a week.

Plus if I really spread them out my tummy can handle it without too much trouble.

I did suffer the consequences a little later in the afternoon. I’m just not ready to go cold turkey on the cookies yet…

On the way to my brother’s end of the year choir recital I chomped off all the heads of some Annie’s Organic Gummy Bunnies.

Strawberry is the best!!!

and dinner was un pictured but I had a bowl of minestrone soup.

how I’m feeling

Physically I’m feeling pretty good. My symptoms are getting more under control and I’m starting to make a list of un-mentionable foods. But it’s really hard mentally. I’m realizing that I’d rather be hungry than put food in my digestive system. Which isn’t good. I really love food!! Read through my endless posts on burritos, cinnamon rolls, spaghetti, and cupcakes.

Most of my favorite things are turning out to be listed as things that can aggravate IBS symptoms. I love diet coke, coffee, broccoli, raw veggies, spicy-everything, watermelon, cookies, cupcakes, fried stuff like french fries. It’s just such a bummer to read through lists that take away all the fun out of food. I don’t really know what to make of it.

What I have to remember is that once I get my IBS under control I’ll be able to enjoy some of these moot foods in extreme moderation. I’m praying for a slice of pizza without dying!!!

A girl can dream!!!

how do you eat your gummy bears?
head first!
