A rare opportunity has recently been announced that has diamond enthusiasts and investors in anticipation. Rio Tinto has announced the launch of its Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender 2012. This British-Australian mining company’s collection comprises one of the most valuable collections of rare diamonds in the world – and they’re about to go on sale. This is an increasingly rare chance to purchase some of the most precious diamonds in the world. Josephine Johnson, manager of Argyle Pink Diamonds, states that, “We are delighted to offer a highly sought after collection which are destined for investment portfolios or heirloom pieces of jewelry.”

What’s In the Collection?

This outstanding collection is composed of 56 pink diamonds, accompanied by two red and 19 blue diamonds. These rare diamonds are typically worth far more than standard white diamonds.

Rio Tinto’s rare collection contains a number of rare and highly sought after hero stones:

· 1.32-carat radiant cut Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink diamond

· 1.02-carat cushion cut Fancy Intense Purplish Pink diamond

· .33-carat heart shaped blue Argyle Allure

Rio Tinto began mining these rare and sought-after diamonds 27 years ago with the opening of the Argyle Diamond Mine. Rio Tinto since became one of the sole suppliers of pink diamonds, which have constantly been in demand from investors, collectors and connoisseurs. Rio Tinto produces 90% of the world’s pink diamond from its Western Australian mine. These diamonds have a broad range of colors and sizes and find homes all over the world.

According to Rio Tinto’s Chief Commercial Officer Jean-Mark Lieberherr, the excitement surrounding this year’s collection is warranted. Lieberherr states that, “Argyle pink diamonds are a diminishing natural treasure that are distinguished by their uniqueness, exceptional craftsmanship and their rich natural beauty.”

Viewings of this rare tender will be held in London, Hong Kong and Perth. The bidding process will close on October 15th, sending this breathtaking collection home with new owners.
