Riding the Rails to Cap's... a Rainy Day Adventure Through the New Transit Interchange

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

Our son called yesterday morning and asked what we we doing. His plans to go to the annual fall festival at Franconia Sculpture Park were foiled by impending rain and he was home alone this weekend with two energetic young kids who were bouncing off the walls.

He decided to take advantage of our growing transit system and make a rainy day adventure riding the rails. They started on the Northstar line up in Anoka and rode into the hub at Target Field. My husband joined them to explore downtown and the skyway system... then I joined them on the Blue Line to chow down at Cap's.

As I look at the Metro Transit map I am excited for our growing rail system. The Blue Line and Northstar lines are now open, the the Green Line to St. Paul opens next year... to be followed by the Green Line extension to the Southwest Corridor. They are also hard at work on the new Interchange Plaza at the Target Field hub. It will be part transit hub, part community center and will be a great entry point to the trendy, developing North Loop.

If you are looking for a fun adventure with kids or grandkids consider exploring the city and riding the Metro rails...

Cap's was a great stop for an informal meal... our son marveled at how we fed our whole family with a meal of tasty ribs for a little over $20!

We started walking over to Minnehaha Falls a few blocks away but everyone was cold so we went back to the train. A fun time was had by all... and the kids slept well that night!
