Richmond Park

By Ryjocl @RyanClarkPhotos

On Saturday I went to Richmond Park with Mike Taylor. Mike is a great photographer,  you can see some of his photos here. It was my first visit to Richmond Park so I was glad I went with Mike as he knew where all the good spots were.

We arrived at the park at about six o’clock before sunset so we can be in position for when the sun rose so we could get some of the golden light. There was very little mist around compared to the mist that is usually there, so I am told. I did however manage to get one photo of pair of stags in the mist.

One of the unexpected highlights for me was seeing two little owls. I had never seen a little owl before yet we saw two within the space of ten minutes!

We then headed towards Pen Ponds where the sun was starting to rise

There was two egyptian geese sat up in a tree

The sunlight on the cobwebs made for a nice photo.

After one flock of geese had unexpectedly flown past leaving me fumbing around with my camera trying to get a photo another flock came into view

We then headed into an area where we could here red deer stags bellowing.

And this lovely female deer:

The air was constantly filled with the sound of ring necked parakeets, a species that I have seen very little of before.
