Review of Amazing Botanicals Black Soap Poo Shampoo

By Savvybrown @savvybrownblog

There aren’t that many products on my “goto” list, but Amazing Botanicals is definitely on there. I’ve spoken before about their Aloe Mint Spray as well as their Pumpkin Pomade, but I had yet to try their shampoo. So here’s my review of Amazing Botanicals Black Soap Poo.

Amazing Botanicals Black Soap Poo Shampoo ($12 or less at Abe’s Market)

Ingredients: Liquid Black Soap infused with Red Palm, Grapeseed, Marshmallow root, Burdock, Plantain, Nettle, Rosemary, and Panthenol

I was surprised at the amount of suds that just a little of this product produces. I used my usual shampoo method to wash my hair in sections and I must say this product is very emollient and cleans both my hair and scalp well. If you like suds but are looking for something sulfate free this is a really good option. It also has a pleasant fragrance. (I know sometimes raw black soap can smell a bit “off” but this stuff smells great!). My hair also didn’t leave my hair feeling “stripped” like many products with heavy chemicals do. At $12 it’s slightly more than I like to pay for my products, BUT I was able to split the bottle and water it down a bit and it still worked well! So there’s a savings right there. Also, I forgot my soap on a recent trip and I even used this product as a bodywash! Yay for multitasking!

I am a big fan of Amazing Botanicals products because I know the creator, Shelly Morant personally. (In fact, I met her at an event years ago only to find out that she lives ON MY STREET!) She is VERY knowledgeable about ingredients, how she sources them and how they are combined.*
