Review: MAC x Bao Bao Wan Beauty Powder

By Beautifulbuns

Although it’s the bane of my father, I love how my little cave -ala Aladdin’s treasure cave – holds piles and piles of makeup and skincare. Granted, it’s not as impressive as mountains of gold, but hey, I make do with what I have – paper bags of beauty products :D The downside is that I sometimes forget what products I have, so here’s something that slightly belated (considering that MAC is churning out products and editions super fast).

I say…

The Packaging: It comes in a rather sleek, flat and slim square compact case (sans a mirror), and comes with a rather strong magnetic snap-shut closure.

The Texture: Like most of MAC powders, the grains are really finely milled-  see my photo above – and doesn’t sink too visibly / coagulate into the pores of the skin. It’s super lightweight and a light dusting is all you need to get a believable natural rosy sheen. The powder color is mostly a champagne-peach that brightens up your skintone.

The Verdict:  It’s not strong in terms of color intensity, but works perfect as a skin/cheek highlighter. In particular, I find it a really good complement to the MAC Philip Treacy High-Light Powder Poudre Lumiere  (since it only has a light dusting of shimmer on the top layer, the actual product gives a peachy-beige natural blush/contour) –  adding this beauty powder on top of it gives a perfect rosy nude-peach glow. Otherwise, you can use this as a beginner’s highlighter for the cheeks (over any other blush), or on the nose bridge for a subtle uplift.
