Review: Innisfree Long Wear Cushion

By Beautifulbuns

When I first started this blog, I used to worry about running out of products to review, since I blog on a daily basis (except weekends and public holidays). I look back now and think that my worries are totally unfounded – I underestimated my ability to beauty binge shop. heh.

Thankfully, from time to time, I receive products from brands to review, which saves me some moolah here and there. To be honest, even if I hadn’t received this Cushion, I’d still have gone out and bought it. Remember, a leopard doesn’t change its preens. (I am so in serious need of some muzzling hohoho)

Watch and savour this moment – it’s when the BB cushion looks the prettiest.

Unlike some other cushions, this one doesn’t ooze liquid when you depress a finger for the first time

Under clouded sunlight – it almost looks like my own skin (if I’d undergone 10 OPT treatments)

Doing a comparison with the other newly-launched Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control in 21 – I know the shades are different, but just check out the finish. Innisfree is more matte, while the Laneige one has more glow.

I say…

At the recent Cushions Class event, this was part of their Summer launch (along with the Water Glow Cushion). Both are meant to help combat the crazy heat and humidity during summer, but this version (Long Wear) is targeted specifically for those with oily / combination skin types. It gives a matte finish without being too sticky, and is touted to have long-staying powers.

  • It comes in the usual BB cushion-style of pact, with a flip-open lid that serves as both a airtight lid as well as a puff holder.
  • Now one thing common with the other cushions are their refills, but this one doesn’t seem to be refillable. It does look similar to the rest of the cushions, and I did try to yank it out but to no avail (not unless I was planning to destroy it).
  • The cushion portion is also slightly tougher (read: not as squishy) than the other BB cushions. I think this will make a difference when you’ve used it for a long time, and need to press the puff harder into the cushion to pick up the remaining product.
  • It has a scent that’s quite synonymous with Innisfree – kinda herbal, almost green tea / eucalyptus.
  • True to their marketing spiel, it really does give a great matte finish (about 95% matte and 5% glow which can be seen around strategic areas such as the cheekbones and nose bridge).
  • The coverage is good – as you can see, the blemishes and icky pimples are covered up nicely.
  • It is no match for my dark eye circles though, so I still had to apply concealer (I know what you’re thinking :” she applied concealer and her dark eye circles are still like that?”) Heh.
  • It does have a relatively long wear time too – I clocked about 6.5 hours before I needed a touch-up.
  • I spot occasional specks of oxidised product around the corners of my nose and the chin (after about 4 hours), but it’s not as obvious as the first-generation Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion.
  • Because I wore it the entire morning in an air-conditioned office, my skin naturally became a little dehydrated, and when I applied some to touch up, it didn’t sit very well (since it was catered for oily skin). It became a little patchy and slightly cakey (particularly visible at the cheek area since it’s drier), but all was solved after I spritzed on some facial mist (aka added some moisture to the skin). In this aspect, it’s quite similar to the Hera UV Mist Cushion.

That said, this is great for oil control, has relatively long wear time (even in this disgusting humidity), and has pretty good coverage. And now, to try out the Water Glow Cushion :D
