Review: Exhilarating Platformer ‘Mechanic Escape’ is a Must-Play Game

Mechanic Escape is a hardcore platformer developed by Slak Games and published by Tekneo, which brings fun-packed gameplay down to nothing but jumping and running. With it’s own original universe, the Mechanic Escape puts you in control of a TV. That’s right the main character in the game is a goofy looking television who’s on a journey to save his lost friends who are trapped in 80 levels, throughout the game. As players, our mission is to guide this badass TV through each level to save all his friends, dodging obstacles and escaping mean monstrous machines, without pulling all of our hair out.

I’ve been privileged enough to get beta access to the Mechanic Escape early before the release and after playing the game for almost two weeks, I must say I’m truly impressed with this game. For a platformer game, Mechanic Escape does its’ job perfectly by making us rage-quit each level with frustration. The game is extremely difficult to play, but it also has a certain fun quality that made me hit restart over and over again, each time when I died trying to outrun the giant mean machine. Even though the gameplay was limited to just running and jumping, the Mechanic Escape was brilliantly designed to make each level more daunting than the last.

This awesome platformer consist of 80 levels separated into 4 different areas. First two areas are like a walk in the park, but the real frustrating fun begins with the third area where things get super intense. It’s all about timing your moves, because making the smallest mistake will take you back to the beginning of the level. I actually ended up banging my controller on the table several times after trying to go through some super difficult levels.

Mechanic Escape is one of those super-hard games that lets you test your gaming skills and see how good you are at playing “Real” games. If you’re looking to get a break from mainstream FPS and MMO games, I strongly suggest you to give this game a try. I bet you’ll be playing Mechanic Escape for a long time, I know I will because this game’s not only fun to play but got great replay value as well.

Mechanic Escape is now available on Steam for PC at $4.99.
