Review: Emjoi Divine Epilator

By Beauteandtheblog
Hello all!
One of the most popular questions I have been getting recently is, "Belle, gosh darn it, my legs and armpits are growin up a storm. Help. Me." (Okay, maybe that's not the exact phrasing, but close enough.) And boy do I feel ya, girl.
I absolutely hate shaving (mainly because I'm lazy...), and I try to avoid it at all costs. As in, I will plan my outfits around hiding my unshaven legs and armpits... Sad, right? Let me know if any of you have this problem. :p Now that it's summer though, I can't hide behind jeans and a long-sleeve shirt anymore.
Luckily, I've finally found my solution!
Enter Emjoi Divine Epilator.
Review: Emjoi Divine Epilator
This has saved me from exposing the rest of the world to my hairy situation. After converting to epilating, I haven't touched my razor once.

First things first: What the heck is an epilator?
An epilator is a hair removal device. Basically, this little device contains a set of tweezers that spin really fast, and as it passes through your hair, it tweezes them out. You can use it on your armpits, legs, and bikini line.

This particular epilator has 36 tweezers built in.It fits well in your hand, and it has a slight curve that allows you to easily remove hair.

The Emjoi Divine epilator, an epilating attachment, a shaving attachment, an exfoliating attachment, a small cleaning brush, replacement exfoliating heads, and a cute bag for carrying everything.
So the first thing everyone wants to know is: Lay it on me Belle, how much does it hurt? Here's the thing though, like I said in my facial spring epilator review, pain level will vary from person to person. For me, I found that epilating was not painful at all for either my armpits or my legs. (I didn't try it on my bikini line...I'm too scared). However, I apparently have a very high pain tolerance for hair removal. Plucking my eyebrows has really never hurt me, nor has plucking my armpits. I did feel a slight twinge tweezing my upper lip in the beginning, and I attempted to pluck a few legs hairs just to test it out, and that was a little more painful than the rest.So heres my tip to you: If you're worried about the pain, try plucking a few hairs from the area you want to epilate. If you can handle it, epilating should be just fine for you. Also, keep in mind, for me, plucking my legs hurt me more than epilating my legs, and plucking my armpits and epilating my pits felt about the same. So plucking may hurt more or less; it really just depends on YOU.
The PitsThe first area I tried was my armpits. Aaand unfortunately, I was slightly disappointed. My pits are a major hair concern, as my hair is pretty dark and thick there, and it grows really fast. Even if I shave, my pits are still slightly dark. I was hoping that epilating it would solve this problem, but it didn't work as well as I hoped.
My hair was still relatively short when I tried epilating it, which could be the reason it didn't work as well as I had hoped. After running the epilator a couple times, I felt like it didn't catch all of the hairs. I could still see some hairs there, and no matter how many times, angles, directions, I tried, I just couldn't get it to pick up everything. Soo I had to resort to tweezing the remaining hairs.
However, if your hair is already pretty lengthy, then the epilator will pluck it all out for you. But that's not exactly practical, because in the summer, who wants to wait until their hair is a good length before removing it?
The LegsNext, I moved on to my legs, and thankfully, it worked absolutely excellent. Like my armpits, my leg hair was just growing out, so I expected that the epilator wouldn't catch everything. However, after following the epilator's instructions of circular movements, my legs were as smooth and clean as could be! I couldn't be happier with the way this epilator removes hair on my legs. It takes maybe a minute or two for me to get nice, clean legs.
The results lasted me about a week before I had to epilate again. After I epilated a few times though, I noticed my hair became slower-growing, and I don't have to epilate as often. The hair often grows out in spurts, so I may have a little patch here I need to fix up, and a little patch there. Very manageable and it only takes a minute!
The Upper LipAnd lastly, I tried it on my upper lip, but it didn't really work. I felt like it really wasn't picking up anything, and frankly, I was a little grossed out. I didn't really want to stick something I had in my armpits on my upper lip. So I gave up, and decided to stick to my facial spring epilator.
I haven't tried out the shaving head or the exfoliating head since that's not really what I wanted the epilator for, but if I do give it a try, I'll give you guys an updated review.
Review: Emjoi Divine Epilator
This little guy is a little pricey, and I believe it retails for about $80. But if you think about how much you save by not buying razors and replacement blades, it'll actually save you money in the long run.You can buy it from Emjoi's website, or get it from Folica.com like I did. Folica often has coupon codes and deals, so keep an eye out for that and you could probably get this much cheaper.
Let me know if you have any questions! I'll be posting up some epilation tips post soon, so look out for that :)
Wishing you all hair-free legs,Belle
