Review: Dr Hauschka Melissa Day Cream

By Lisagray @juicysatsuma
Long time, no blog, bad, naughty blogger! Turns out working full time during the week and then volunteering at the weekend is hard work! I remember when I used to actually have a life. Good times.
Lately I’ve been using all sorts of stuff on my skin. Mostly freebies that I’d collected from Clinique and Estee Lauder. While they tend to work well at first, eventually they leave my sensitive skin feeling congested and I find myself drawn back to natural, organic, less chemical laden products. I still recommend Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel for for those with oily skin who prefer your big brand name skin care products, but long term it’s ended up not being for me. The tree hugging hippie in me is gravitating back to nature!

Review: Dr Hauschka Melissa Day Cream
Which brings me nicely onto the Dr Hauschka skin care range. Even those of you who aren’t as into natural skin care as I am have probably heard of Dr Hauschka. Their products are often referenced in fashion mags and they’ve won a tonne of awards.
What I love most about the brand is the ethos that it’s all about supporting your skin and gently guiding it towards becoming the best it can be. It’s not about harsh chemicals attacking your skin and trying to force it to chance into something it’s not.
My first foray into the world of Dr Hauschka is with the Melissa Day Cream. The Rose Day Cream has won multiple awards but I felt that Melissa suited my skin better. It’s formulated to support sensitive, combination skin conditions and that’s me to a t!
This cream manages to be thick without being rich which is perfect. It smells pleasantly of lemons as the key ingredient is lemon balm. This moisturiser manages to keep my oily skin matte and under control but also nourishes the areas where I need a little extra moisture. I only use this product in the morning as Dr Hauschka recommends only cleansing and toning at night to allow your skin to breath and rebalance itself. This is sound advice as I think most of us can be accused of being over reliant on skin care products at times!
I will be sticking with my Melissa moisturiser and highly recommend it to those with combination skin. I will definately be buying more Dr Hauschka products and think that the brand comes as an ethos which ideally needs to be adhered to throughout your whole skincare routine.
Has anyone else tried any Dr Hauschka products?
Lisa x
