I am so excited to be one of the blog tour stops for this great book, Sovereign by E.R. Arroyo.  Here is the synopsis from its Goodreads page:

Chemical warfare has obliterated most of the world, including America, and the survivors have turned into feral beasts, save one colony, Antius, the last remnant of civilization. Seventeen-year-old Cori (aka Citizen 1206) only longs for wide open spaces and freedom. But Antius has no use for such things, just mindless drones to serve in a place with walls, fences, and laws. A lot of laws, which Cori constantly breaks. So she’s spent years plotting her escape, which is the only thing that will save her from the colony’s deranged leader, Nathan. She isn’t looking to be a hero, and she certainly isn’t looking to fall in love, but she just might do both.

Usually Justine handles most of the blog tour stops so I’m pretty new at this!  It’s been so fun so far and I’ve checked out some of the other reviews and content this week and it’s been great, you can see the schedule with the other posts here.

I really enjoyed this book.  There was non-stop action, from the very beginning.  Cori is a feat in every way, practically a super-hero, even with a weakness to go along.   The story is set in a post-apocalytpic America, but even the setting has a mystery: is everything that Cori has been told about where and how she grew up a lie?

The story begins with Cori attempting to escape from Antuis, the colony in which she lives.  She knows that another world was out there, because she is one of the only citizens of the colony to be born outside its walls.  Her escape attempt fails and she is recruited into the military, and the deeper she gets into Antius the more secrets she discovers.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good adventure.  The only complaint I have is that it almost started too quickly.  Weird complaint, I know, but it took a little while for me to get fully into the character’s head because the adventure started so soon.

You can find the book on Amazon here, on Barnes & Noble here, and you can find the author on Twitter here.
