Youngblood Mineral Radiance Creme Powder Foundation in Neutral

I remember when I owned just one foundation.  The concept of owning an arsenal of different textures, different coverage options, and even different shades had never occurred to me.  I used my one bottle of foundation – the same type, the same shade – every single day.  (I also only had one eyeshadow and one lipstick, but that’s another story for a different post!)

What I realize now is that my skin is not the same every day.  It alternates between being a very good girl to being a very, very bad girl.  Some days it’s dry and needs a moisturizing foundation.  Some days it’s oily and needs a matte foundation. Some days my skin tone is extremely uneven or broken out and I need more coverage. And I never know what it’s going to be until I get up and look in the mirror.

So now, I have a fluid foundation, a cream foundation, a powder foundation, a tinted moisturizer, and a cream to powder foundation sitting in my foundation drawer like good little soldiers, ready to be called out to battle whatever skin issues I have that day.

mirror and sponge included!

Youngblood’s Mineral Radiance Creme Powder Foundation ($56) is always in my foundation drawer.  It’s a 2 in 1 foundation that provides the coverage of a cream foundation without the heavy feel that sometimes happens with thicker formulas. It’s a great moisturizing option that keeps skin smooth and hydrated. It comes in a chic round compact with a circular mirror, the foundation, and a separate sponge. I love that the sponge doesn’t  sit right on the foundation. Using a sponge and then storing it on top of a foundation quickly becomes a major bacteria party.

Neutral up close

The foundation has a solid texture with a creamy feel and slip that dries down to a powder finish. To apply, I use the sponge and pat it on from the middle of my face outward. The sponge gives a great finish, although I like to end by placing my hands over my face for a moment. The body heat from my hands sets the foundation and helps it sort of meld in, giving a natural looking appearance.

Neutral swatch

The shade that works great for me is the cool toned Neutral.  There are  seven other shades from which to choose, although I find the swatches appear lighter online  than the shades are in person.
