Review: A Flawless Face With The Sephora Precision Sponge ( a Beauty Blender Dupe?)

Have you ever thought about trying theBeauty Blender? Many makeup artists and enthusiasts, swear by it for supposedly giving a flawless and airbrushed look to the skin. Out of curiosity, I picked up one of the Sephora Percision Sponges since they seemed so similar, and the Beauty Blender  was much more expensive.

To be honest, when I first used the Sephora sponge, I was sadly disappointed. I thought that I had just wasted my foundation because it had all been absorbed by the sponge and nothing was left for my face! But after using it for a while, I have realized that The Sephora Precision Sponge works best if I apply the foundation first to my face with my hands, and  then use the sponge just to blend. Also, I found that the wetter this sponge was, the more “air brushed” I looked. Furthermore, my foundation did not look cakey or heavy, instead it looked a lot like skin.

What I didn’t like, was that the sponge absorbs a lot of foundation in the process. Also, the sponge stains pretty bad and it seems very difficult to clean. Even with generous amounts of soap there were still traces of makeup in the sponge. The Sephora Precision Sponge is smaller and denser than the Beauty Blender, making the Beauty Blender soft, and bouncy. The Sephora Precision Sponge does however, get the job done, and for almost half of the cost. So, while I am not amazed by the results, I am skeptical that the original Beauty Blender will be any different. I have never used the Beauty Blender, but as soon as I can justify getting it, I will post a comparison and review!
