It's Motivational Monday! I went for a run and did my #plankaday! Proof! Woot woot! What is everyone else up to for their workout? Nothing??? Well, stop reading this blog and do a plank. I can wait.
reunited and it feels so good
Ok you're back!
I hope you had a restful, adventurous or exciting long weekend! This workout is from Friday August 31st After 2 1/2 weeks apart, I was re-united with my trainer for one day only. I spent the weekend up north in Muskoka and then I am heading back to Halifax on Tuesday after the long weekend. This pretty much sums up my weekend:
reunited and it feels so goodI mentioned in an earlier blog post that September and October are going to be absolutely insanely busy at work (we are opening 5 new GoodLife Fitness clubs in two months). I definitely do not recommend working with a trainer any less then two times per week, you will not see the results that you are looking for. Trust me.
The first thing I did when I saw Kyle was hug him. Ya we hugged it out. Then we go to to work.
I was definitely looking forward to this workout.
Our workout:
5 Rounds & 6 reps
swiss ball squats (30 lbs)
neutral grip lat pull down (70lbs)
4 rounds 10 reps
swiss ball hamstring curls
push ups
3 rounds 12 reps
lunges (30 lbs)
seated row (30lbs)
2 rounds
rope pull (80 pulls)
external rotators (5 lbs & 10 reps)
After each round we took a 2 1/2 minute break.
If you are going to try this workout on your own, I would recommend getting all of your machines or equipment ready to go, just in case you don't have a trainer like I do to get everything ready for you. It pretty much took us the full hour to get through all of these exercises. It felt so good to be back at the gym with Kyle.
Oh before I forget, I am doing a giveaway and it's not too late to enter!! I am giving away some awesome products that I discovered since I began blogging and now I can't live without them. CHECK IT OUT!
My Trainer:
This morning was Tara and my first session in over two weeks!!  Ordinarily that would mean I was dealing with a slacker, but Tara has been living it up out East in Halifax (working) and keeping herself plenty busy.  She was sharing some of the awesome stuff they (her and her Club Opening Team – pretty cool people.  I’ve met them)  had been doing, and I trust she’s written about it in far better detail, but the “piano keys” on the sea kayak seemed so cool!  What an experience to travel the country, meet different people (apparently it’s an entirely different world out east … in a good way), and try different things.  But, here we were, back in London, back to reality and back to work in the gym.  She came into the warm up with guilt in her eyes about the last time she worked out, but she didn’t disappoint (never really does) and put in an awesome effort.  We were back doing body composition work and she kept up well with the last workout her and I did.  She clued me into the fact that she is jet setting again and won’t be back for regular workouts in a while (she promised to stay in touch and let me know).
Again, with the average client that would drive me nuts, but Tara is far from average.  She genuinely enjoys fitness and shares it with as many people as she’s able to … that just means she is all over the place.  I know she has a busy September at work, to say the least (more gyms opening means more Canadians involved in fitness!!!), but these are the times that workouts make you feel even better.  When you’re workload is at an all-time high, when it feels like all you want to do is go back to bed, those are the workouts that get you results … and I know she’s up for it.
P.S. Anyone else secretly a little happy that summer is unofficially "over"?
Happy Reading,
Me + My Trainer
