I guess before I can get started with this week’s Reference Resource Mondays, I have to go take a quick look back at a series that I became accustomed to reading after it started by watching it, and how it managed to affect this blog in a small way.

It was probably summertime when I actually watched The World God Only Knows. It was shown at my anime club a few times, but aside from one episode involving a broken VN, I didn’t get a chance to watch much more than that. So I believe it was summertime when I finally sat down and watched both seasons, and liked it a lot. Little did I realize that I would like it so much that it would be something I’d identify with as a whole: from this site, to my avatar (here and on Twitter).

Now, TWGOK is not the best series ever, and it’s definitely not my major favorite series. But it’s a series that remains important to me nonetheless. After I finished the anime, I jumped straight into the manga, and I had been reading it inconsistency since 2011. It finally ended. I bet there are a lot of details that I’ve forgotten thanks to the passage of time, and the breaks (from my breaks to the author’s) aided in that. But I do know it was a worthwhile journey, and a worthwhile read. It’ll be weird not being able to read a new chapter starting from this point.

But whatever the case, thanks Wakaki-sensei, for creating this series. I look forward to reading your next work, and hope it’s a title that can come to America!!!

Now onto this week’s links!

  • All of a sudden, Nopy’s now in prison. Ok, maybe not, but that picture makes it look like the case.
  • Chris talks about the beginning of the Geishas, way, way back in time.
  • Anne talks to the creator of the StarFighter Visual Novel, HamletMachine.
  • Some potential Winter shows for me to watch are on this list. No, seriously, I might consider these!
  • A good post by Neomo about taste in anime, and sometimes, the problems it can actually cause.
  • MOAR SPORTS ANIME COVERAGE!…but with someone different this time!
  • Have a list of strong female heroines in games from Matt.
  • If someone hosted a panel “anime that everyone disagrees with“, there better be blood all over the room, people with broken limbs, and someone forgetting why they went to that panel after it’s over. (On a side note, I’d like to sit in such a panel and record it).
  • Finally, I’m sorry Lauren, but this piracy piece is too simple! Too simple!!!

If your story has lots of paragraphs that start with "But," you're writing about a contradiction or have structural issues.
