Reference Resource Mondays: One Last Snow Day?

Posted on the 02 March 2015 by Kaminomi @OrganizationASG

Reference Resource Mondays: One Last Snow Day?It’s March. That means we get closer and closer to it being spring, and then no more snow. That means as I look out my window, I’ll no longer see a bunch of white snow falling from the sky, or on the ground, etc. And that means that my chances of my job being closed for the day will cease to exist, but unless snow manages to get my job closed, then it is an utter nuisance and just very annoying to deal with. I guess I should’ve known my feelings on snow would change when I got older…

…Anyways, I think y’all are here for some good reads. Then let me give you some good reads from the past week.

  • Don’t normally link to posts on the site, but in this case, I will since it’s a guest post: Ayame stops by and writes a thoughtful post on Mushishi and whether or not it’s fatalistic.
  • I love it whenever Anime Instrumentality has an article up (it’s unfortunately been rare in the past few months), so of course I’d link to Chris’s review of the KanColle OP.
  • What exactly does it mean to be counter-cultural? Japesland explores this, and lists 5 anime where that definition comes into play.
  • I continually forget that there is a live-action AKIRA in the works. I’ve just been reminded in the worst possible way.
  • Read this interview by Cho of former Baka-Tsuki editor/translator Aorii, and come out of it possibly understanding why translation is so subjective. Oh, and why the pros of LNs are its biggest flaw.
  • As hinted in an interview I did with her last year (very shameless plug), former Prince of Tennis assistant Jamie Lynn Lano is starting her own manga company.
  • If you live in NY and want to break into the manga industry, Kodansha USA’s hiring interns. For those interested, this advice series might help you (more shameless plugging)
  • Want to get a slight update onto what’s going on regarding anime in the Philippines? Well here you go.
  • Finally, as always, if there’s a blog anniversary, I will probably link it just cause. And so of course I would link Tony’s anniversary.
