Red Sox Take Series Lead 3-2, Head Back To Boston To Close It Out.

Yeah, I'm rollin' with this guy tonight.

Um, how awesome was Jon Lester last night?  Biggest game of the season and this guy tosses a 4 hit gem.  I know the experts said the Cardinals struggled against left handers but damn that was sweet.  Papi is literally out of his mind good right now and will get back to being a DH tomorrow night.  Stephen Drew made a ridiculous catch even though he couldn’t hit off a tee right now, (however that walk he took in the 7th was HUGE.)  David Ross and his beard, the Wolf, had just about the game of his life.  Oh, and by the way, Uehara, yeah that guy is kind of ridiculous right now.

I feel pretty good heading into game 6.  We get Napoli back in the lineup, probably Victorino as well, Lackey will be on the hill with a fresh Felix Doubront to help transition to the Tazawa/ Uehara back end of the bullpen.  Basically, we need a few runs early, let the pitchers do their thing and get the god damned champagne ready.  #FearTheBeard #KojiDoinWork #BloodSweatBeards

Couple of notes:

I.  David Ross was safe, just sayin’.  Molina missed the tag, but I’m not going to make a big deal about it.  Just pointing out the obvious that the umpire missed because home plate umpires always stand in the absolutely worst place possible.

II.  Peter Gammons’ tweet pretty much summed up what the Red Sox have been able to accomplish this postseason:

In October, the Red Sox have won games started by D. Price, Scherzer twice, Verlander, Wainwrtight twice. Buffalo Springfield:they got soul

III.  I’ve questioned some of John Farrell‘s moves throughout the series and the playoffs but going with just Lester and Uehara last night was brilliant.  He saved all his bullets for the trip home to Boston.  That’s going to be important in game 6.  Plus, like I said above, this play by Stephen Drew may not get made by Bogaerts or anyone else who may have played short.  Just sick.

Basically at this point, all the Red Sox have to do is win one more game and they’re the best team in the 2013 season.  No big deal, right?
