Racist Outlash Provokes Cheerios to Disable Youtube Comments

Cheerios adLast week cereal brand name Cheerios disabled the comment section on one of its advertisements.  The 31 second ad was posted on its YouTube channel on May 28th.

Here is the video:

Do you see a problem with this video?

I certainly don’t.

A representative from the company stated they disabled the comment section for the ad because the amount of vitriol received over showing an interracial couple with child was so overwhelming they decided to disable all the negativity from their page.

I find it preposterous that in the 21st century we continue to encounter bigots who have nothing better to do than bombard the comment section of a cereal commercial.  I cannot change what they think or how they feel.  Their distorted and atrocious words are their responsibility and their problem.  However, they should keep their stupid comments to themselves.  I only hope that as the years progress we encounter these people less and less; until eventually race no longer is a factor.

Racism in this country sadly continues to exist.  I will never understand why someone else’s personal decisions and lifestyle choices somehow matter to anyone other than those people.  I will never understand why people don’t finally realize that we are all the same.  And I will never understand why a little girl must be subjected to irrational hate from idiots that somehow feel threatened by her existence.  Harassing a young girl is not only pathetic but becoming of a loser.

What do you think?
