Quirky Prada Platforms at Spring Summer 2013 – Hot Or Not?

By Clarissa17 @ClarissaSeaton
Prada was well-applauded for her finest spring and summer collection so far – but wait; does this include her quirky Prada platform? Many see this unconventional footwear as avant-garde and truly a sign that a designer is fashion forward. Others are convinced that this is just a whim of a celebrated fashion designer who wishes to be different from the rest. So, are the platforms by Prada the hottest ones that you’ve seen, or do they not deserve a space in your rack? Quirky Prada Platforms at Spring Summer 2013 – Hot or Not?Going higher and higherThe platform shoes of Prada were a spectacle in themselves. As collection of dresses got paraded down the runway, the footwear that the model wore seemed to increase more and more in height. Not only did the inches in the platforms varied, but also the styles. Seen were wood-made platforms with a gargantuan hole in the center. There was one that gave off a metal-made boot. But considered as the quirkiest of them all were the gaudy Geisha-style shoes or platform with a red ribbon that was used to secure the shoes by wrapping it around the ankle.Celebrities are Prada Platform FansElle Fanning and Rihanna are two Hollywood celebrities that adore the Prada platforms – despite the quirkiness and all. Fanning, especially, is a super fan and has in fact worn a pair at the recent premiere of Twilight Breaking Dawn movie in Los Angeles. Shall we expect a wave of other A-stars that will be spotted wearing these creepy shoes in the near future?  Quirky Prada Platforms at Spring Summer 2013 – Hot or Not?And so the heated debate is on. Is the Prada platform another hot item yet again from the premier fashion designer? Many fashion pundits see it that way. However, others beg to disagree. When it comes to categorizing this footwear place, they outright label it as too quirky enough to be worn in normal events. My opinion is that Prada always use her freedom to the hilt when it comes to designing footwear, or any fashion item for that matter, the way that she wants it to be. However, it’s evident that she overdid it this time. I doubt if this footwear has a place in high street. What’s your take on this?Image Source: Talkshoes
