PS4 was the best-selling console in the US during June 2015
PS4 was once again the best-selling system in the US last month, according to data released by NPD Group. PS4 software was also the leader in June.
"PlayStation 4 was the top-selling console in the United States in June due to the overwhelming popularity of the Batman: Arkham Knight PS4 bundles," a Sony spokesperson told GamesBeat.
Xbox One sales, meanwhile, were actually up an impressive 51 per cent year-on-year, putting figures in the region of 300,000 for June. It also temporarily fought off PS4 to become the top-selling console for the week of E3.
"Good June #NPD #XboxOne sales +51% YOY & proud we were #1 selling console the week of E3 +79% WOW," tweeted head of Xbox games marketing Aaron Greenberg, "but Batman ps4 bundles strong as expected."
Nintendo was pleased with a 20 per cent year-on-year rise in combined sales of Wii U and 3DS, too, but attributes much of the growth to "the new momentum created by the launch of New Nintendo 3DS XL on Feb. 13".
So far in 2015 3DS sales have increased by more than 40 per cent over the same point last year.
The software chart is headed up by Batman: Arkham Knight, which when including bundles is the best-selling game of 2015 so far. Batman is also another hit for Warner, which has had a bumper 2015.
"With hits like Batman: Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3, Mortal Kombat X, and Dying Light, Warner Bros. Interactive is the top corporate publisher so far in 2015, with dollar sales growing 217 percent versus the first half of 2014," said NPD analyst Liam Callahan.
