Wild Honey Pie favorites, PROM, are back with a dynamic new single, “Flickers”. Unlike much of the dream pop circulating at the moment, the airy mix on this track focuses heavily on powerful synths and a strong drum cadence, breathing life into the song while still maintaining an effortless feel. Each pre-chorus fadeout highlights the way “Flickers” is expertly layered, allowing the ethereal echoes of Ella Zoller’s voice weave in and out of Gabriel Stanley’s melody while pulsating synths perfectly fit into the holes of the drums. Smoothed over by the production of Dave Weingarten (Ghost Beach),the song is an invigorating start to what’s sure to be a wonderful new batch of songs from PROM. Their debut EP, Keeping Company, will be out this fall on the new Ghost Beach label, Crazy Heart.
