Pret creates handmade natural food avoiding the obscure chemicals, additives and preservatives common to so much of the ‘prepared’ and ‘fast’ food on the market today.

Pret A Manger: Who Said Fast-Food Should be Junk?

Available on every street corner in the capital, I decided to go inside and see what’s it all about! A very nice place where fresh food is displayed on shelves and fridges around the restaurant with chips bags delospted on the floor in wooden boxes. The menu includes sandwiches, filled baguettes, soups, salads and coffee. Pret also prepares desserts, such as American muffins, cakes, and croissants. Lately they integrated the fruits station where you can just grab your favorite piece and enjoy it as fresh as it looks.

Pret opened in London in 1986. College friends, Sinclair and Julian, made proper sandwiches avoiding the obscure chemicals, additives and preservatives common to so much of the ‘prepared’ and ‘fast’ food on the market today. The two of them had woefully little experience in the world of business. They created the sort of food they craved but couldn’t find anywhere else.

Using natural ingredients and avoiding preservatives and obscure chemicals is sacred to Pret. Their sandwiches are freshly made throughout the day in each and every Pret kitchen. This fact is what makes Pret special.

This morning, we entered Pret and grabbed two sandwiches. The cheese and Ham they toast in their special machine and the brie that is consumed as is. Really fresh and delicious. The only thing missing is Sprite and Sprite Light. They have Coke though!

At the airport, and if you didn’t have the chance to eat at “Pret A Manger” while in London, they have a nice and big restaurant where enjoying a meal is pleasant.

Yes, I liked it. I finally found the place where the staff is welcoming and eating fast food is not junk. We had enough of burgers!

Sandwiches are packaged in paperboard rather than sealed plastic, to emphasize that they are fresh and should not be kept overnight.
