Prepare to be Bowled Over at Bowl & Barrel

Bowl & Barrel's Wagyu Steak & Blue Cheese Sandwich

Bowl & Barrel recently revamped their menu and invited me in to sample their latest culinary creations. Never one to turn down a free meal, I scheduled a date night with my man and we headed over there on Friday night to see what the hullaballoo was about. The German-European infused menu now features an even wider array of smorgas-boards, sausages, exotic shared plates, sandwiches, salads and more, making this boutique bowling venue perfect for parties with friends, fun date nights and adventuresome family outings.  For an appetizer, we loved the Devils On Horseback, which were blue cheese stuffed medjool dates wrapped in bacon ($7) and the Ghost Pepper Peanuts which are dusted in sea salt and chili powder ($3). I really enjoyed the savory Wagyu Steak & Blue Cheese Sandwich and my husband gave the Fish & Chips two thumbs up.

Some of Bowl & Barrel’s new menu items include:
  • Wagyu Steak & Blue Cheese Sandwich – Baguette, blue cheese mayo, watercress and ale glazed shallots, served with choice of fries or quinoa salad.
  • Chicken Apple Club Sandwich – On sourdough bread with mayo, lettuce, tomato, avocado, green apples and bacon. Served with choice of fries or quinoa salad.
  • Fish & Chips – Complete with bicky sauce and malt vinegar.
  • Chicken Salad – Green cabbage, kale, ghost pepper peanuts, fruit chutney, jicama, green apple and curry vinaigrette.

“We’ve put much thought and love into this tasty artisanal menu and I’ve been dying to expand it,” said Kyle Noonan, co-owner of Bowl & Barrel. “All our dishes are made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, and with additions like our jumbo lump crab cakes and green chili grilled cheese, you certainly won’t be leaving here hungry. Plus, our new cocktails offer the perfect pairings for a night to remember.”  In addition to these dishes, the boutique bowling alley has introduced several new cocktails to its repertoire. I tried the Velvet Mule made with Tito’s Vodka, Velvet Falernum, ginger beer and lime juice. But since I am a champs lover, it was no surprise that my favorite was the French Kiss made with Prosecco, St. Germain, lemon juice and house-made Grenadine.
Although we didn't bowl on this visit, I have enjoyed the lanes at Bowl & Barrel many times. The place has a fun vibe and the full menu can be enjoyed at the lanes via a server. It is also great for one of my favorite pastimes: people watching. The night we were there former Dallas Cowboys fullback and current FOX analyst for the NFL, Daryl Johnston (aka The Silver Fox) and his wife Diane were there. Major eye candy.
Bowl & Barrel is located in The Shops at Park Lane at 8084 Park Lane, Suite 145 (across from the old Bailey's Prime Plas). For more information, visit BowlAndBarrel.com.
