LOCATION

The hotel is located a kilometer away from the bustling Susukino area, and the rest of the city’s major attractions are easily reachable by the city’s efficient subway lines. Accessibility is no problem—the airport shuttle bus stops right in front of the hotel; the Kikusui subway station is just a 10-minute walk away; and the hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to Sapporo Station.

STYLE/CHARACTER

Premier Hotel Tsubaki Sapporo exudes an elegant, classic feel throughout. From its high-ceiling lobby, it does look palatial, living up to its status as a five-star hotel.

ROOMS

Honestly, my room seemed dated when compared to newer, sleeker hotels I’ve slept on, yet I liked how they’ve excellently maintained the room to tiptop shape. And like most of the hotel, the room sports a classic look from its walls and carpeting to its furnishing.

My deluxe room is spacious by Japanese standards—measuring about 40 square meters—and it came equipped with standard amenities. I had no complaints with the room’s comfortable bed, as well as its immaculate bathroom. Wi-fi was blazing fast and complimentary.

FOOD AND DRINK

The hotel serves breakfast at two venues, but I chose to dine at Il Salice for its more intimate setting. Their breakfast spread is a modest selection of Japanese and Western items.

SERVICE

Their staff who are proficient in English were polite throughout, and they kindly and efficiently assisted me with my needs, especially the concierge who gave me travel recommendations for Hokaido—like where to eat and shop. Service is surely one of the hotel’s best attributes.

VALUE FOR MONEY

Premier Hotel Tsubaki Sapporo charges modestly compared to other hotels in the city. Its reasonable rates would suit the budget even of those who are looking for a room to just sleep in.
