Powerful Way to Find Happiness (besides Having a “good Body”)

By Pamelabrowncoaching @coach_pam_brown

Are you waiting for life to begin anew AFTER you get the ideal, toned, perfect body that you want?

boost self-esteem, boost self-confidence, find happiness

In high school, I couldn’t wait for the day when I finally blossomed into my idea of a woman’s body.  I used to think, “If only I had a female-looking body”, then I would have a boyfriend and I wouldn’t be alone.

I was a “late bloomer”, so when I turned 18, I finally started maturing physically.  I actually had a cup size, and my hips spread a little.  Moreover, I was finally getting attention from boys that I always wanted in high school.

However, there were those moments where I would feel so empty, and I didn’t know why.  I had this wonderful body, I’m getting attention from boys, and I’m still not happy.  It wasn’t until years later I realized that I was expecting my good body to bring me a happy ending- in my case, a meaningful relationship.  And, long story short, it doesn’t work like that.

One powerful step I took to get rid of this emptiness has been gratifying, and has made my life better.  I got in touch with the “real me”, the inner self that will never change.  The inner self that brings life satisfaction and happiness.  The way I did this was getting in touch with what I’m good at doing, and finding ways to place those things into my life more.

Discover your Hidden Assets!

I took a strengths test, VIA Character Strengths Test, and it was a tremendous learning experience!

I found out what my top 4 strengths were, and got practical tips and strategies on how to include those in my life each day.  So why is using your strengths such a big deal?

  1. when you use your strengths, you  are using the most central part of you; your strengths are your power
  2. using your strengths increasing satisfaction because it’s something you  do well AND enjoy doing
  3. You feel better about your body, because your body actually houses these wonderful assets!!!  It’s you!!!
  4. your performance in every area of life improves
  5. using your strengths brings you an internal sense of satisfaction, and helps you to feel better about being you, regardless of having the “perfect body” or not!

My top 4 strengths are the following:

  • perspective (wisdom)
  • love of learning
  • humor
  • gratitude

The transformation I got from using my strengths is a feeling of completeness.  I felt less empty and unhappy.  I realized I tapped into something that will always be mine, ALWAYS, and will never change no matter what.

Summary

So, if you need a powerful way to find happiness, and the pursuit of a good body just isn’t doing it for you, then get in touch with your hidden strengths.  Remember, your strengths are your everlasting internal source of strength and power.  They can help you to feel more complete, real, and valuable.  They also help you to feel better about your body.
