Poetry Friday: They

By Malavika

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

They

they have looked for holes in your soul, they have peeled and peeredthrough the skin of your fearsbut maybe one day they will findthat the holes in your soulwere windows to God’s mindand they have found your broken piecesshattered piles in your darkest spacesfragile, sharp, painful piecesbut the broken pieces that they found in youwere just mirrorsreflecting their own parts throughand they have thrown salt into your invisible woundsand picked at the scarsof your silent ruinsbut if they looked they would see withinthat the wounds of your soul were cracksthat let the light leak in and they have dug deep struck dirt and said “you are dark and impure” but they did not dig deep enough to strike the golden stillness of your core —–m
