POEM: Midnight Ride

By Berniegourley @berniegourley

let me take you on a midnight ride

through endless fields of wounded pride

memories grown in the silhouette of nought

where valiant soldiers stealthily fought

you’ll see the carnage but not the fight

you’ll feel the dawn but never see the light

it all went south, FUBAR, they claimed

only smoke and shadow left to be blamed
