Plus Size Fashion Project

Currently working on a little design project trying to find good cuts and shapes of garments for the Plus Sized woman.

As a designer I am so sick of looking at badly dressed full figured ladies, but I have to say that i can see their problem…that choice of clothes out there is rediculous! ive looked at high street stores who have collections aimed at this market and i am appalled at the shapes and colours being offered! Basically Wear a Black tent with leggings and thats how to hide your figure..I say Bollocks to that! & Large scale print, Wrap over jersey dresses, lots of cheap stretch fabrics shaped like potato sacks, ill fitting jeans which give a builders bum….the list of faux pas goes on and on…

EVERYONE deserves t look and feel great in what they wear no matter WHO you are, I have always mentained that idea. Now its time i did something about it. Currently I am working on 2 High end womans wear collections and a menswear, but ive got to at least get some research and sketches on the go for plus size and even Maternity fashion.

Instead of having a theme from where I will take ideas (such as nature or architecture for example) I am working directly from other clothes. Im looking at well groomed curvey and pregnant celeb women to see what works and what doesnt, Im looking at fabric and pattern cutting so hopefully when i get myself up and running, I can look back at the silhouettes that I have established for this niche market and work from there, to finally say goodby once and for all to those pull me in Pants and other insulting pieces suck it in underwear.

Ofcourse our underwear is important to our shape and to how or clothing sits on our body - so i will look into that at a later date, but who wants to look great in a dress and then get home with your partner and attempt to peal away the layer of stomach reducing nickers?

Ive noticed that the problem is in keeping the cost down. High-street chains are catering to low budgets…its easy to look great when you can afford made to measure, sculpted to you clothes…so lets see what i can come up with as a solution…its gonna be a challenge so feel free to send me any related images or interesting bits of info via my website

xoxo LLM
