I did go out to work when my little girl was 12 months old but then left 6 months later. I left because I hated leaving my daughter and they had also put my hours up to working every day. I love being a stay at home mum. I’m planning to get a job when my daughter starts school – Says Nickie

I live with my partner, our little girl and Staffy puppy. My little girl is called Kacie-Leigh and is 2. We live in Wakefield, a town near Leeds and I’m 21 this year. I became a stay at home mum as soon as my little girl was born in April 2011.

I did go out to work when my little girl was 12 months old but then left 6 months later. I left because I hated leaving my daughter and they had also put my hours up to working every day.

I love being a stay at home mum. I’m planning to get a job when my daughter starts school.

The positives of being a stay at home mum are that you never miss out on anything your child does and you get to bond a lot more.

The negatives to me are the lack of money, not being out there earning myself; my partner goes out to work and provides for our family, I do wish I could do more to help at times.

The most rewarding thing is the bond you have with your child me and my daughter are closer than close, I love it and seeing how happy she is every day.

The most difficult part would be the lack of socialising, most days the only conversation I have is with my 2 year old, not any adult company until the partner gets back home from work.

Other people underestimate stay at home mums,  as they always think we don’t do anything all day but our job as a stay at home mums is probably harder than most jobs.

There is the washing, cleaning, feeding and looking after a child for a start.

My advice to any mum thinking of becoming a stay at home mum would be go for it, as long as you can afford it.

It’s the most rewarding thing in the world watching you children grow up.

I don’t think there is much support for us, if any at all.

I make time for myself on a night when my daughter goes to sleep, she goes bed at 7pm so I get a good few hours to chill on a night and she doesn’t wake till 8.30am.

I get up an hour earlier than her to sort and clean the house and then I have 30 minutes to chill on a morning before she’s up.

I have a few friends what come round now and again but don’t really see them much. My hobbies involve my daughter; I enjoy taking her out to different places and to go swimming.

I don’t regret being a stay at home mum and I am planning to get a job when my daughter starts school and that is what works for our family.
