Pizza Sandwiches

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

Max, you know… the boy friend, grew up eating “Pizza Sandwiches”. And when I was visiting his family in Tahoe for New Years a few years ago I was really intrigued when I was told we’d be eating Pizza Sandwiches for dinner.

Pizza Sandwiches are really easy to make. And they aren’t actual sandwiches, which is exactly what I was expecting when I heard the term Sandwich. I thought I’d be eating something crazy with pizza sauce and toppings with gooey cheese between two slices of whole wheat bread.

Here’s what you do.

Toast a slice of bread, I like to use the butt for extra flavor, in the toaster until it’s crunchy. You don’t want moist crust!

Then top with pizza sauce… any will do.

Sprinkle cheese over the top and add any other toppings you want. I was a little low on veggies so I just made a four cheese with mozzarella, parmesan, jack and cheddar.

Then pop in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes, or you can bake it for 10-15 minutes for a really gooey treat.

To add to my Pizza Sandwich I made some steamed broccoli and topped it with some extra pizza sauce for some flavor.

I think this meal was a whopping 300 calories. Total SCORE!

Enjoy!!
