Piero Fornasetti: La Folie Practique Exhibition

By Eyepreferparis88 @eyepreferparis

FORN-1

Without a doubt, hands down, without question, the best exhibition in Paris right now is Piero Fornasetti: La Folie Practique Exhibition.
Piero Fornasetti was a ridiculously talented and prolific artist who created over 13,000 works in a career that spanned seven decades. Born in 1913, Fornasetti started as a painter in Milan but soon when on to design an extensive collection of objets and home accessories including wallpaper, umbrella stands, trays, ties, furniture, wall screens, and his most iconic product, plates.
The beautifully and cleverly curated exhibition at the Musée des Art Decoratifs features over 1,000 of Fornasetti’s pieces, and even though it may be a little overwhelming to take in all 1,000 pieces, it’s just a drop in the bucket of Fornsaetti’s massive output. The dramatic entrance hall has a flag with a black and white illustration of a hand with a face imbedded in it surrounded by richly painted screens and cabinets. One whimsical room, among many, has stacks of umbrella stands scaling the walls and my favorite room contained 100 decorative serving trays individually displayed, each with its own spotlight. A special treat was the dizzying and dazzling video with terrific special effects and animation.
If you want to ensconce yourself for a few hours in a magical world of an amazing artist and creator, don’t miss Piero Fornasetti: La Folie Practique Exhibition.
