LeBron James, had  his annual foundation’s “We Are Family Reunion” in Ohio on Tuesday. The NBA star used the ending of the event to thank his supporters and to address the tragic events in Charlottesville.

LeBron’s “We Are Family Reunion” is a day of fun for the 1200 or so youth that are a part of his program.  The event has been for the last three years at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio.

On Tuesday night, singer Jordin Sparks joined LeBron at his event, and performed her single ‘One Step At A Time. Singer  Usher was also there and sang a few songs, with Jordin and LeBron James joining in.

At the end of the event, LeBron thanked all the kids and their families for their support, and then called for unity.

“To be here with all my kids, all 1,200 of the kids and all their family and all the supporters, you guys make it all possible,” James said. “Without you guys there’s no me, seriously. You guys make me get up every day, be a role model, be a father and be a husband, friend, son.

“You guys make me be everything I can be and try to be as perfect as I can for you kids because I can’t let you down. I refuse to let you down. Thank you for allowing me to be your inspiration. Thank you for allowing me to be a father figure at times, your superhero at times, your brother at times and all the above.”

“I know there’s a lot of tragic things happening in Charlottesville,” James started the end of his speech. “I have this platform and I’m somebody that has a voice of command, and the only way for us to get better as a society and for us to get better as people is love. And that’s the only way we’re going to be able to conquer something as one.”

“It’s not about the guy that’s the so-called president of the United States, or whatever the case. It’s not about a teacher that you don’t feel like cares about what’s going on with you every day. It’s not about people that you just don’t feel like want to give the best energy and effort to you. It’s about us. It’s about us looking in the mirror. Kids all the way up to the adults. All of us looking in the mirror and saying, ‘What can we do better to help change?’ And if we can all do that and give 110 percent, then that’s all you can ask for.

“So, shout-out to the innocent people in Charlottesville and shout-out to everybody across the world that just want to be great and just want to love. Thank you, and I love you all.”
