Twenty-year-old Jamie Herrell, owner of the Mactan Dynamics Dance Co., bested 83 candidates from around the world to capture the second Miss Earth crown for the country.
The moment Herrell’s name was announced as the winner, she cried for joy.
Twentyyear-old Jamie Herrell proudly wears the crown of Miss Earth 2014 at the end of Saturday night’s pageant at the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City.
It was in the question- and-answer portion that Herrel impressed the judges. Asked “If you will be crowned Miss Earth tonight, what will you do to slow down the effects of global warming?” Herrell said: “Global warming has been known for being long overdue issue. That is why if I am crowned tonight, I will use my title to inspire others to help our environment and start with the kids; because the kids are the people of tomorrow. And if we teach them, they will also help the community.”
Herrell, who stands 170 centimeters and measures 32- 25-28, describes herself as “hyper and adventurous.”MB
