For an artist it's not the debut of their work that is the most anticipated, it's the follow-up. So, although Raf Simons' debut as head designer for Christian Dior in the summer was met with more praise than the iconic fashion house has had in years, they were still lingering questions. Was it beginner's luck? Can he really do it again?
Well, now we have the answer. No, it was not beginner's luck and, yes, he can do it again. Raf showcased his Spring/Summer 2013 collection this week at Paris Fashion Week with a gorgeous effort that showed he truly is the future of Christian Dior. The line was sophisticated and luxurious and infused a neon-esque color palette with his signature light touch. Even with so many design techniques showcased, every piece looked like it belonged, as if created from the same hand.
I am personally in love with Raf Simons' designs and am so excited he is at the helm of Christian Dior. For an atelier that has such a long and storied history, I think with Raf we have entered a new era. One that will bring a whole new level of design to today's fashion world...
