Experience success at Fleming, where we provide a unique and innovative learning environment for our students.  We take pride in offering students real world learning, available only through the recent, related work experiences that faculty bring.  The Frost Campus, with its thematic focus on water in programs, is home to one of Canada’s leading environmental education institutions, the School of Environmental & Natural Resource Sciences (SENRS).  Also located at the Frost Campus is Fleming College’s Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment (CAWT), an applied research institute that supports innovative water and wastewater technologies through R&D, testing/verifying and demonstration projects.  The CAWT has expertise in a wide range of technologies and can host small-scale experiments and pilots on site as well as monitoring full-scale demonstrations in communities and in industrial settings in cooperation with partnerships provincially, nationally and internationally.

Description of position:

Our Continuing Education / Contract Training Department is currently recruiting to establish a pool of qualified contract faculty to develop curriculum and course content and/or teach short courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Ontario and internationally.  You will play a pivotal role by developing superior curriculum and/or demonstrating teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and delivery methodologies (classroom, distance learning and online). Your previous working experiences will provide a broad range of practical knowledge to enhance the student learning experience.

 Additional Qualifications:

 You possess a relevant combination of post-secondary education and significant current progressive work experience, including advanced training in GIS.  You have expert knowledge in ArcGIS and have proven experience with database design and development including SQL Server, SQL programming, Sybase, MS programming, ArcSIDE, ADO.NET, Oracle, ODP.NET, ESRIGeodatabase or similar programs.  You are knowledgeable in one or more of the following areas:  cartography; advanced relational database; distributed databases; multi user access in an enterprise environment; GIS and geomatics; data collection; geospatial techniques; cartographic principles; digital map production; image data interpretation; geomatics in mapping, surveying and remote sensing; environmental modelling ; web design.   In addition to your proven analytical and project management skills, you have strong business and technical writing skills and exceptional oral, presentation, and written communication skills.

 Prior adult teaching/training experience is preferred.  Experience with curriculum design and development, including on-line and/or distance education is preferred.  You are able to work flexible hours and travel both regionally and internationally.

This role also requires self-motivation, flexibility and a passion for learning and student success. You will focus on enhancing the student experience by creating a rich learning environment and providing superior service to students. You have the ability to work independently and in a team-teaching environment.  Exceptional interpersonal and critical thinking/problem solving skills are required, as are computing skills (self-sufficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, e-mail, internet search, web applications).

Salary Range: As per the applicable contract faculty salary grids or the Continuing Education Memorandum of Understanding
