Paris, A Moveable Feast by 2 Lonely Swans

By Shugavery @ThinkIncognito
What is Paris to me? Well I would say writers and poets. When I hear Paris I immediately think of Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Gustave Flaubert, Arthur Rimbaud, Gérard de Nerval, Aragon and many other. These men made our capital magic because of their beautiful depiction of the city of lights. I like the Paris they depicted because they showed its beauty and its ugly side. No wonder Paris has this je ne sais quoi that attracted many people, and among them there is Ernest Hemingway. So, no wonder I borrowed the title of his book A Moveable Feast, in which the writer tells us about his first years in Paris during the twenties, to tell you about Felik and Aneta, the hilarious couple behind Street Fashion Paris

But before telling you about Aneta and Felik, let me digress for some more time on Paris.

Did you know? Paris is not only this to me. People I am a girl from the province, from Bordeaux more accurately, and as such I also loathe the capital of my own country (bonjour bipolarity!).

Joséphine Baker once sang "J'ai deux amours, mon pays et Paris" (I have two loves, my country and Paris) and as you can read she did say Paris and NOT France. Paris the city of light, Paris the city of love, Paris the city of every French revolution (because we didn't only have the one of 1789 you know), Paris the city of the Poètes Maudits (the Accursed Poets), Paris the city of Quasimodo, Paris the city of Les Misérables. And finally, Paris the city that is overshadowing its own country and even itself because of its overwhelming reputation. As someone coming from Bordeaux, I have all the rights to be proud as much as a parisian. The capital is not the only town to own the privilege to hold huge part of the History of France. Eventhough there is nothing to brag about wars, France wouldn't be France without Aliénor d'Aquitaine whom by marrying Henry II of Plantagenêt in 1154, and incidentally divorcing the king of France Louis VII, was giving the richest and most powerful region of France (that is Aquitaine) to England and unintionally planting the seed of the Hundred Years War, a conflict that would see England and France enemies until 1453. That is why besides wine, Bordeaux and its region has definitely much more to offer than every lover of Paris would think. Hence why when I ask for a chocolatine in Paris and I am told "Aah you meant a pain au chocolat ?" to really make me feel I am from the province because of a slight language difference I tend to cringe. But despite my scorn for grumpy parisian ******* (the french word would be "cons" for the very polite word I didn't write in english) I must admit that Paris is magic. But not magic like every blogger usually pictures it for you : you know Paris and the Tour Eiffel, Paris and Ladurée, Paris and its macarons   (oops but wasn't it intended when I mentioned Ladurée ?), Paris and its nice restaurants and cafés, Paris and its people looking like Carine Roitfeld during Fashion Week. Non, non, non, believe me Paris is far away from Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, it still have this ugly side well depicted by the writers I mentioned earlier. If it didn't it would definitely not attract millions of people (myself included) because it is precisely this mix of beauty and ugliness that makes this city.

Anyway, now the digression has come to an end. Let me introduce you to 2 Lonely Swans : Felik and Aneta. I fell in love with this couple blog because I really enjoy the little stories they are telling us through their words and pictures, Aneta being the one writing and Felik the photographer. Street Fashion Paris is their diary in which they show us this beauty and this ugly side of Paris. So, the province girl I am couldn't help but share with you their vision of our capital to show you that its charm doesn't necessarly lie in fancy things.

Don't be fooled by the name of the blog of these two ! Street Fashion Paris is NOT a fashion blog despite the word "fashion" being in it. It is actually a blog about street, a tiny bit of fashion and a lot of Paris.
