Parallels & Lies – “Destinations”

Parallels and Lies DestinationsThe thing that I love doing this site is listening to new music and being able to spread the word on new and amazing artist that everyone will soon be talking about.  Thanks to Chrissy Borsellino from The Catalyst Publicity Group on sending me a email to check out an album called “Destinations”, which is the sophomore album from Parallels & Lies.

The group is made up of four members Chris Johnson (Producer/Keys), Danielle Harrity (Vocals), Mark Fitzpatrick (Drums) and Becka Mckiness (Guitar/Bass). Parallels & Lies comes from Chicago, IL and are really starting to make a name for them selves on the EDM charts.  I can certainly hear that in the music that is on this album. Now if you have seen Krewella or SOFI live you might have already heard this group since they have opened up for these two acts.

Taking a listen to this album it was hard for me to choose which songs I should talk about.  Everything was done so well this is really how new music should be.

Supernova” is the current single they have out and everyone should really get this song.  Right away the beat of this song sucks you in.  The beat has this dark tone to it but the vocals have a more lighter tone.  It’s always hard to do a dark background with a light vocal but they were able to pull it off.  they also did not use too much effects on the beat or vocals.  This really was the right choice in making it the first single.

The next song on this album that needs a mention is “Anything We Want (explicit)”.  Right away you hear this song you get up and start moving around.  When a song can do that you know it is a good song and a lot of people will like it as well.  It has a great feel and the beat to this song is more lighter.  It’s nice that they were able to show a more lighter tone with this song.

The last song I’m going to talk about is “Forgive Me”.  What I love about this song is they were able to mash up the acoustic genre with the dance genre.  Now if you remember this isn’t the first song that has been able todo that.  “Wake Me Up” by Avicii featuring Aloe Blacc did the same this earlier this year and was a huge hit.  This song just shows the way they are able to transform their sound which in my world makes for a great music act on the rise.

I would give this album a 4/5 stars.  It is a great sophomore album from this group and I can’t wait to hear more from them in the future.  This album is going to be released on October 24th.
