By Sangeetha
Paneer bhurji recipe for kids - how different can it be from the usual recipe? Well, there can be a bit of difference, as it is a kid friendly recipe. But what has changed apart from the spice levels? Find out as I reinvent the classic paneer bhurji recipe in today's post. Whether your kids prefer sweet or savory, I have a recipe for both! Paneer is my favorite diary product. Most of the vegetarians I know, love paneer and mushroom. I am a pure vegetarian at home. So whenever I crave for non veg foods, I try them with paneer or mushroom. At times, I combine these two ingredients and make recipes like tawa fry, bhurji, curry and one pot meal etc. I always try to use homemade paneer for my recipes. The reason - homemade paneer gives you great taste. With a bit of patience, you can make it at home and the quality, taste and texture will surely beat the store-bought stuff! It is really easy too!!! Paneer can be prepared at home with milk by adding lemon, vinegar or curd. I prefer to make paneer with curd. Do you want to know I make paneer at home? Read on....

How to make paneer?

To make paneer, you have to first take milk and boil it. When it is about to rise, just pour two to three spoons of curd. Keep on boiling till you notice the water (whey) separating from the milk. Turn off the stove, filter the milk with a muslin cloth. Gather the corners and tie it in a tight 'potli'. Next, place some weight on it for half an hour. (I personally prefer making paneer with curd but as I mentioned before, you can make paneer with lemon and vinegar too). Today, we are going to need crumbled paneer. So if you have frozen the homemade or store bought paneer and is wondering how to crumble paneer, I will tell you how. Just soak it in warm water for a 5 minutes and then crumble it. If you think that making paneer is too much of a task, you have to read the benefits. Once you do, you will love it, for sure!

Great in protein, magnesium and calcium, its a must have for your kid's bone and teeth growth.

My daughters I constantly wondered how I could get them to eat paneer. After practically breaking my head for two-three days, I came up with an idea. I had a brain wave and decided to make - SWEET PANEER BHURJI!!! are not at all interested in eating paneer as I always make it by adding spices. I was worried as we are vegetarians and I didn't want them to lose out on nutrition. Believe me, it tasted very good and my kids loved it. When I shared the recipe with my friend, she was aghast! She wasn't ready to accept this recipe. But when she tasted it, she was really surprised. She said it taste like palkova or mawa. After inventing this sweet bhurji, each time I prepare paneer bhurji for us, I prepare both the sweet and spicy versions. So, yes, I am going to share two styles of paneer bhurji today.

I had feeling that they would like it as my daughters love sweets (only jaggery based).

I know what you are thinking, isn't the post supposed to be about paneer recipes for kids? Hearing the name of the recipe, don't think it's going to be too spicy. We are just going to add the spices in a kid friendly amount. Let me tell you why I add a bit of spice to my kid's food. It is best to introduce all varieties of foods as early as possible. I have a personal experience in this case as my elder daughter is very choosy but my younger one will at least try the food and only then will she avoid it. So kindly introduce all varieties at an early stage. I have seen some kids will not even smell the curd even when they grow up. Coming to the masala paneer bhurji this has so many healthy ingredients like paneer, green peas, ginger and garlic etc. Ingredients Method 1. Soak the paneer in hot water for five minutes and crumble it. 2. Chop the onions and tomato. 3. Mince the ginger and garlic. 4. Cook the peas separately. 5. Heat the pan with butter, once it melts, add the fennel seeds, cinnamon and cloves. 6. Add the onions, fry till it turns to light brown.
