Paid STEM Internship for High School Students Summer 2015

By Urbanbushwoman @urbanbushwoman9

Hey there! A friend of mine just shared some info with me about a paid summer internship for high school students who are interested in STEM careers. STEM training + $2150 stipend + looking good on your college resume = LET’S DO THIS!!! It’s a 5-week internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Their aim is to reach students from high schools with a large population of “financially disadvantaged students”. You know what that means, right? Yep! So do I. Hop on it!!!

The requirements (besides commitment) are:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Be 16 years or older on July 5th, 2015.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Students with a GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 should apply if their grades have shown steady improvement.
  • Attend a school where more than 30% of the student body participates in the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program.
  • Live in Virginia, Maryland, or Washington DC within commuting distance of the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

Sounds good? Cool. Click on this link for more information and please pass it on to students and parents that you think may be interested. You can count this as your good deed of the day.  ;)
