Packing the Hospital Bag

While I'm only 28 weeks along, I started the process of packing my hospital bag. Crazy, right?
Well, not really. I had my reasons, one being I was writing an article about it, and the other being that I have less than 10 weeks to go. It may be even less than 10 weeks, especially if this bambino is like his sister and decides to come a bit earlier.
I have just a few things in it now for the sake of pictures, but I know what's going to go in it when it's completely packed:
  • bathrobe
  • comfy pjs
  • socks with grips (although the hospital ones weren't so bad)
  • my pillow
  • cell phone and charger
  • camera and extra batteries
  • netbook (possibly...)
  • iPod for some tunes
  • all necessary forms
  • baby book
  • toiletries and makeup (gotta look pretty for the pictures!)
  • nursing bras
  • Boppy pillow (must have for my c-section incision)
  • pen and paper
  • going home outfit for baby
  • swaddlers for baby
  • manual breast pump with cleaning wipes and/or tiny bottle of dish washing soap (in case I have problems once more and the lactation consultant is once more delayed and too busy for me)
Enough, right? I'll also be adding in non-perishable snacks this time, since with my last go at childbirth I was starving when all of my meals arrived late each day I was there. It did not help with the recovery part in the least bit.
I'm also going to be bringing a few swaddlers for the baby this time. I brought one when my daughter was born, and it made such a difference at night since the little escape artist kept getting out of the her receiving blanket and making me nervous.
As for going home clothes, the baby's coat and hat, and the car seat, I'll leave that for the hubby to bring on the morning of my last day in the hospital. And if he requires anything extra, I'm sure he'll gather them up himself. He's been through this twice before.
I do have a few things in the suitcase now, and in the coming weeks I'll be adding the rest.
What did you have in your hospital bag that you would recommend? What did you have in your bag that you didn't need? I'd love to hear from you!
