You may all know Oscar Pistorius as the Olympic runner with no legs. At the age of 11 months, Pistorius had to have both of his legs amputated, but that is not the reason Pistorius is being heard of as of this past weekend. Pistorius, resident of South Africa, is being accused with the murder of his 30 year old model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp this past weekend.
Pistorius claims to have shot his girlfriend of 3 months after believing she was an intruder in his home. Was it a Valentines day surprise gone wrong? Steenkamp was apparently shot several times in the head and hand. Police arrived on scene after Pistorius’ neighbours heard screaming and gunshots emanating from the Olympic runner’s home. Unfortunately, Ms. Steenkamp died on site as the paramedics were unable to safe her.
Apparently, this incident was not the first time police had been called to the Pistorius residence! Insiders say that Steenkamp had called a few times before during the tenure of their 3 month relationship, with the allegation on domestic abuse.
Pistorius is being charged with the murder of Ms. Steenkamp.
