Review of Mum’s Office Big Family School Year Diary

I was recently sent the Big Family School Year Diary from Mum’s Office to use and review.

Mum's Office The Big Family School Year Diary

If you are anything like me and struggle to keep up with your families school, work and social lives, this diary could be just the thing you are looking for!

It is a lovely big hardback diary with lots of space for even the biggest family to note down and organise their events.

The diary starts with some tips on how to utlise the diary in the best way for your family before going on to contact pages to note down all Mum and Dad’s details and important information and space for up to 5 children too.

The next section I think we will start making use of once Little Mr A returns to school in September – a Pocket Money Record.  For a while now we have been discussing giving him pocket money for helping out and this is a great place to note down how much you have given them and when.

Next comes space to note down more information such as Dates to Remember so you have them all listed in one convenient place to have a quick glance at; Need to Know numbers for places like the bank, hairdresser, Doctor etc; a Need to Know www…. page to note down any important websites that you or your family need; an In Case I Lose My Mobile!! page to note down telephone numbers; and, finally a Need to Know!! page and separate notes page.  I rely on technology far too much for this information so it’s great to have it all noted down somewhere in case technology turns against me!

One of the main things I really like about this diary is that there are two places to write down what you are doing.  A small ‘Our Plans’ section where you can easily see at a quick glance what everyone is doing in a particular month before going onto the main diary section which is split into a week per double page so there is ample space to write down lots of information for each day.  It is also split into a grid so each family member can have their own section on the diary.

Because there are only four of us (you can fit up to 6 in the diary) I have used the final column in the grid for meal planning as it is so much easier than having a scrappy bit of paper attached to the fridge which often gets lost!

The back of the diary has a few notes pages too for anything extra you may want to jot down.

Another great thing about the diary is you get two ribbon bookmarks attached instead of the usual one.  This means I can have one in the quick glance section and one in at the relevant week so I always know where I am!

I must admit I am a bit of a stationery fan and when this dropped through the door I was very excited to get writing everyone’s plans in it (sad I know!).  I have not been disappointed, not only is it great quality and value for money, it is also extremely practical and I can see it becoming my bible over the coming school year particularly with the ever increasing amount of school events Little Mr A has and with Big Mr A working away quite a lot at various places throughout the week – I have no excuses for missing anything now!

Disclaimer – For the purpose of this review I was sent the diary free of charge.  All opinions are honest and my own and all photographs were taken by me and are not to be used without my permission.
