California Democrat Dianne Feinstein has proposed an amendment to the Media Shield Law, which targets the First Amendment, and would limit the law’s protection only to "real reporters," not bloggers and other upstart alternative media types.
To Feinstein, "real reporters" include journalists from outlets like the New York Times, ABC News, but not Alternative Media sources and outlets.
Feinstein claims she is concerned "that the current version of the bill would grant a special privilege to people who aren’t really reporters at all, who have no professional qualifications," like bloggers and citizen journalists.
Feinstein would strip protections from the very people that first reported the IRS targeting of conservatives when the "real reporters" wouldn't touch the story until the IRS apologized for doing so three years later, the very bloggers and citizen journalists that pushed for answers on Beghazi before the "real reporters" would ask the hard questions.
Alternative Media has been the driving force of reporting the the scandals that are rocking the White House now, when journalists for major media networks admit they will avoid certain topics because they may lose access to the White House or those that do not want certain news reported on.
In other words, Feinstein wants to protect state run media and strip protections from those that will report independently.
