One Tea Lounge & Grill

By Takeeatfoodblog
Lately, I have been really enjoying all the new matcha centered cafes that are opening up in Sydney! Say hello to a new kid on the block that has taken matcha to whole new level, from the classic matcha latte to matcha burgers! I discovered One Tea Lounge and Grill through Instagram, there have been multiple photos are their famous Ice Cream Baogers and Matcha fondue. I quickly took screenshots of it and sent it to my matcha- loving and foodie friend which we then set a date and met at One Tea Lounge & Grill for good food and catch up.

Matcha Cappuccino | $7
The matcha cappucino definitely stood out to us when we saw it on the menu but it tasted very similar to the matcha latte, which was very creamy and not enough cappucino or matcha flavouring. However, it is a very creative drink combination and would love to see how they improve it over the next few months.

Matcha Latte | $7
I've been drinking bucket loads of matcha lattes during the holidays and there are some that are a hit and some that are a miss. This matcha latte was a little bit too creamy and milky but the barista was happy to take on our advice and criticism which was to add more matcha so make it less creamy, so it didn't taste just hot milk. Other than that, the matcha latte was a nice warm drink on a cold day.

Popcorn Curry Chicken | w/ green tea lime mayo sauce | $10
One Tea Lounge & Grill is a great place to share food with friends. My friend and I ordered the popcorn curry chicken and we absolutely loved it! It taste exactly like popcorn chicken from KFC with a kick of spice. It also comes with green tea lime mayo sauce, which tasted more like wasabi mayo sauce but the combination worked very well together.

One "Takocini" | Housemade fusion of Takoyaki & Arancini balls w/  green tea mayonnaise, bonita flakes | $9
The One "Takocini" is very similar to takoyakis but filled with rice instead a wheat- flour based batter. For what we got I do not think it was very worth it because we were only given 3 for $9. So if you're hungry I would recommend getting something much bigger but to share/ as an entree this is perfect.

Ramen Burger | Teriyaki Chicken | $13.80

Ice Cream Baoger | 2 x slider size fried baogers with ice cream (Green tea and Lychee) | $12

Matcha Fondue (for 2) | Fresh fruit, green tea castella, macarons, cookies w/ Matcha white chocolate dip sauce | $20
The matcha fondue is what we came for and was definitely not disappointed. The hot matcha was creamy and thick and perfectly paired with the fruit, cakes/ sweets that were provided with the fondue. One Tea Lounge & Grill are always keen to listen to your feedback and are willing to change elements of their dish to meet the needs of their customers!

Interior dining area and Bar
Overall, a great dining experience at One Tea Lounge & Grill and a great opening. They still have a lot of room to improve and to create new/ anything matcha to their expanding menu! I look forward to going back to try the dinner menu.
Happy eating x
