Oatmeal Brulee

By Chocolateandoranges
oatmeal brulee
I decided to try a variation on some of the oatmeal brulee recipes I've been scoping out lately this morning. I made the simplest possible version:
Ingredients:
oats (rolled or steel cut)milk and/or butter if desiredbanana, slicedcinnamon and/or vanilla if desiredbrown sugar (I used dark)pecans or walnuts
Directions:
1.  Cook oats however you normally do (I used steel cut and that means rice cooker for me), put in small ramekin or something that's okay under the broiler, preheat broiler2.  Stir in milk and/or butter if you're feeling decadent (for some reason I can't eat steel cut oats without some milk even though I never use it in rolled oats- so I stirred in a little bit of sodelicious coconut milk)3.  Stir in cinnamon and/or vanilla to taste (I used both but I accidently poured too much vanilla- a common occurence, I need to get better at controlling my pours!)4.  Top with sliced bananas and brown sugar5.  Put under preheated broiler until sugar melts and caramelizes (3-4 minutes in my toaster oven), meanwhile toast pecans or walnuts in microwave for a few minutes6.  Top oatmeal with ntus and Enjoy!
