Review by Poorna I confess, I love lipsticks. And lip glosses. And lip stains. And lip balms (this will continue, so I’d better stop here). And I love the brand NYX. Not just because it has amazing colors and shades, but because it is affordable, quirky, fun to play around with, nicely packaged, and overall, pretty. So, when I was looking around the other day, I stumbled across this lovely lip cream, and I was in love.
Presenting my current favorite, Nyx Xtreme Lip Cream. The description on the cream is perfect – “Its not a lipstick, nor is it glossy. It’s like nothing you’ve experienced before. Its liquid lipstick that goes on with full Xtreme color and intense shine.”
And I bought it, fool that I am for NYX.
Okay, here is the deal. I bought this lippy for 380/- from a shop in my neighborhood, but the price of this product is quite variable around town. At Urbantouch, you would get this for 403/- after discount, with the original price of 475/-. I chose the shade “Buttery Nude” because currently I am going through a nude lippy heavy eyes phrase. Okay. So when I first looked at the lip cream, it did look like the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams that I have. In fact, at present I have so many Nyx products that it is getting pretty embarrassing for me to stay in my house and face them every day and try and convince myself I will NOT buy anymore. But, then again… So, well, sorry. Got distracted. The lip cream is quite intense, and at first when I applied it on my lips, I thought it would be a total disaster, because the cream settled on my lips quite heavily, and needed some time to be blended in. The applicator is a long handled doe-footed one, which I love, and I think is totally great for doing the job. Here is the list of ingredients. I am lazy that way. But, you can see the number of stuff that I don’t understand at all… like Polybutene and BHA. Are they supposed to be bad for me? Here is an obligatory hand swatch to show off how thick the cream can actually be. Original color. After blending. At 7 ml, I think the price is just right for the product (after all, who doesn’t like discounts?) and I started to blend in the lip cream with the doe-footed applicator (which I love, because it is actually easier to blend it with). I used the cream sparingly, and this is the result I got. Daylight. Perfect. Nude. Lips. With a hint of pink too. I love love love it. This is inside my room minus the sunlight and flash. Just look! After 2 hours So, okay, yes, I know I am in love. The lip cream is easy to carry with, and that’s a great thing because this lippy gets slightly dry after 10-15 minutes, and settles on my lips like a matte lip cream. And yeah, that looks good on me, but then, I will advise using a balm underneath, and refreshing the lipstick after every 3 hours or so. If I eat anything, the lipstick goes away, but unevenly, so be careful there as well. I like the smell of this, it is nice and mild and really lovely. At present, this has become my “day” lip color, and it works out really well with dark makeup for the eyes too. So, to sum it up, let us ponder on the things talked about. What I like about the product:
- The texture of the cream
- The color
- The price
- The packaging
- The smell
What I don’t like about the color:
- The blending time
- Reapplication needed after every 3-4 hours
- Goes away when I eat anything
Verdict: 4/5 Will I Repurchase? Yes I will. I love this color.
ETM Edit* Ooooh that a lovely shade.very apt for everyday use. Love your smile Poorna. :)
