NYFW Day 5 and 6

By Thesamanthashow

And we’ve made it friends… the last two recaps! Today we’re chatting about NYFW Day 5 and 6.

Kelly had to work Monday morning and left super early, but I was actually able to sleep in a little and take my time getting ready! My first event was the Christopher Esber presentation which was a lot different than any of the other presentations and shows I had been to. It was open from 10-12, unlike most shows and presentations that start at a specific time. When I got there, the models were all standing in the room. After a few minutes, they all walked backstage and I had no idea what was going on. It was my first experience at a presentation but I knew that couldn’t be it… there was still an hour left!

After 10 minutes or so they started to walk back out; they came out two at a time and walked around the room before going backstage. Once all the models had finished walking, they all came back out again and stood there, just as I had seen in the beginning of my visit. I loved the pieces, the elements and the intimacy of the presentation.

I had a show at 1 so I thought I would uber there and just hangout. Unfortunately it was nothing like the other venues I had been to and I don’t even know if I was in the right place! I immediately called another uber and headed to Chelsea Market, a place that came highly recommended by friends. One of my SC sisters Lary was also at the market, so we met up for some lunch and coffee.

We were both heading to the same show over at Pier 59 Studios for the Katty Xiomara show so we hopped in an Uber and headed over together. That was my first show at that venue (that I actually attended) and it was really cool! I had a seat in the third row and then they moved me down to the front row once they started to let those with standing room in. I’ll share all about that when I do my round-up post but front row=amazing!

I had made an appointment at the TRESemme salon at Skylight the day before and we decided to head that way and see if they could get me in early. And they did! So we got our hair done before I headed backstage for the MONSE show. I mean, how cute is this braid?

Backstage is crazy, and if you read my other posts, you know that I actually preferred the shows to backstage access most of the time. But I got to this show early enough to interview the make-up artist and then head out before the storm of chaos hit. Best of both worlds 🙂

We went to the Sherri Hill show and then I decided to call it a night. I was beyond exhausted and just had reached capacity. Sherri Hill featured a ton of lovely evening wear/formal dresses but my seat was terrible. So I’ll spare you the bad shots and leave you with an idea:

I met Kelly at her office so we could grab sushi takeout and go crash on the couch. We passed an eyebrow threading place (don’t know the technical term lol) and I told Kelly I had never gotten my eyebrows thread. So since it was my last night, we made a quick stop in there so I could experience that and then headed home. All I can say is OUCH. It literally felt like they were shaving my eyebrows off my face. But the sushi, delish!

And that was the end of one of the greatest weeks of my life. And I cannot wait to do it all over again in the fall!  I learned a lot and I will be sharing a few more things over the next couple of weeks but hopefully you got a good idea of what I did all week 😉
