Not Wearing Wedding Ring – A Mums Pet Hate

One of my pet hates is married people not wearing their wedding ring. It drives me bonkers. I’m not married. I’ve never been married, apart from the gay skydiver, but we don’t speak of that oh and an informal ceremony when I was three to my teddy. But one day I hope ill be able to have a husband.

When I was little I wanted to marry my dad. I thought no man would be able to better my dad. To be honest no man has- hes my dad you know but the man I am with now is trying. Hes been married before. He was loving and committed, he wore his ring.

She was a bitch and a slag and took her ring off along with her knickers every chance she got. Her vows got the boot like him. Its put him off being married. He said his ex wife changed after they married. Instantly.

Some people view their rings as like a ball and chain and don’t wear them as it reminds them. Some don’t wear it as they don’t want to be ” branded”.

Some don’t wear it as its harder to cheat when its watching you.

My nan wore hers through forty odd years of married life. My grandad too. My dad did. My mother in law has been married fifty years and does. Her husband died ten months ago but he did too. It now hangs around my mother in laws neck over her heart.

When I marry ill be proud to wear my ring. To me its a symbol of the love and respect and its a way of letting people know someone loves me enough to put that ring there.

I don’t care about being branded. I think it will be more about a source of strength if hes not there. Being married means you took vows, you honor those vows and wear those rings if your physically able too. Don’t be ashamed of them, don’t hide them and if your taking them off to cheat then you don’t deserve to wear them.
