2011 Andrews AFB Joint Services Open House, T-6 Texan ,ECO,@ Andrews AFB, MD

May 2011

First flown in 1935, more than 15,000 of these iconic warbirds were produced and served in air forces around the world as late as 1995.  The T-6G was a rebuild of 2,068 early model AT-6/T-6s (1949-1953) with improved cockpit layout, increased fuel capacity, steerable tailwheel, updated radios and a 600hp engine.  The Joint Service Open House and Air Show has been held yearly at Andrews AFB since the 1950s, and switched to a biannual schedule in 2012.  Andrews is the home base of two Boeing VC-25A aircraft with the call sign Air Force One when the President is on board.  Nikon D300 w/300mm, processed with Aperture.
