Nokia has just announced the Lumia 1020 in New York, with a 41 megapixel PureView camera. It is the third smartphone with this kind of a camera. This high number of megapixels was previously only available on the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone with Symbian as a mobile operating system. It will be available in three colours – black, white and yellow.
Nokia Lumia 1020 runs on Windows Phone 8 and is the new flagship for Nokia PureView series. It combines the Windows Phone 8 operating system with a second-generation 41-megapixel camera sensor; the phone supports Nokia’s advanced PureView camera technology with optical image stabilization and ZEISS, has a dedicated camera key, xenon flash (for photos) and LED flash (for videos). The camera takes very good pictures because it brings together information from multiple pixels in a “super pixel”. The final images have a resolution of 8-megapixels.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 also has a bright 4.5-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Pure Motion HD + display with the scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3 and 32GB memory (not expandable, but you get free 7GB storage via SkyDrive). The device also features a 1.2-megapixel HD-webcam/front camera and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, 3G/HSDPA and 4G/LTE. 2000mAh battery can be recharged wirelessly.
In addition, the Lumia 1020 comes with the new application “Nokia Pro Camera“, which helps average user to make sharp pictures. The zoom function can be used not only before you take a picture, but even after you’ve captured a photo. Nokia Pro Camera also offers an attractive interface, convenient for quick editing or sharing of photos and videos. The “Nokia Rich Recording” feature lets you capture 1080p Full HD videos without noise and with stereo sound.
